What we hold

Your email address, the essays you submit, the feedback and marks produced for them, and — if you choose to record it — the real mark a teacher or exam gave an essay. We also keep a count of how many essays you have had marked, so your pass works.

We do not hold your card details. Payment is handled by Stripe and card numbers never reach us.

Who can see your essays

Only you. Access is enforced by the database itself, not just by the app, so your work is not visible to other students. Your essays are never published, shared, or shown to anyone else, and there is no leaderboard or public ranking.

How your work helps improve the marker

This is the part worth reading carefully. When you record the real mark an essay was given, we may use that essay and that mark to check and improve how accurately the marker works. That is how it gets better — the only way to know whether an estimate is right is to compare it with a mark a human actually gave.

If we do, it is used privately for that purpose. Your essays are not published and are not shown to other users. If you would rather your work was not used this way, email us and we will exclude it.

Processing by other services

Marking an essay means sending its text to Anthropic’s Claude API, which produces the feedback. Your essays are stored with Supabase, and payments are processed by Stripe. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Students under 18

Most people using this are school students. We collect as little as possible — an email address and the essays you choose to submit — and we do not use your work for advertising or sell it to anyone. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should buy the pass and can contact us about your information at any time.

Deleting your work

You can delete any essay, or all of them, from your history at any time. If you want your whole account and everything in it removed, email us and we will delete it — that removes your essays, your feedback and your recorded marks.
